The turbine (1) has a float tube (4) including a number of wind blades (3) facing wind forces so that the wind blades experience a rotational force, where the float tube remains in the water in a substantially vertical rotational axis. An energy converter (8) e.g. dynamo, converts the rotational energy of the wind blades into electric power, where the energy converter is fitted to the float tube, and the wind blades have a wing-shaped cross section. An independent claim is also included for a method for converting wind energy into electric power using a vertical-axis wind turbine.
