An isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding a polypeptide with isomerase activity conjugated linoleic acid, selected from the following group: a) a nucleic acid molecule with the sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 1, b) molecules nucleic acid, as a result of the degeneracy of the genetic code, are derived from the nucleic acid molecule with the sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 1, c) derivatives of the nucleic acid molecule with the sequence shown in SEQ ID nO: 1 which encode polypeptides having at least 97% sequence identity with the amino acid SEQ ID nO: 2, without substantially reducing the activity of conjugated linoleic acid isomerase polypeptides.
