A therapeutic ophthalmic composition for intravitreal, subconjunctival, sub-tenon, retrobulbar or supracoroidal injection, the composition comprising: a therapeutic component comprising particles of a sparingly soluble therapeutic agent stabilized with hyaluronic acid or a salt thereof, the particles having a maximum dimension less than 3,000 nanometers and being effective to form concentrated regions of the therapeutic agent in the retinal pigmented epithelium (RPE) of an eye of a human or animal being when administered to the eye of the human or animal; and a vehicle component associated with the therapeutic component.
