The device has an operating unit for changing on-states of switching elements and control units. Switching units are connected with a driver assistance systems of a motor vehicle in such a manner that the assistance system is assigned to each switching element. The switching elements of two switching rings are assigned to a driver assistance system for outputting of warnings whose time criticality with time criticality measure is provided in two predetermined time criticality areas. On-state of the driver assistance systems depends on on-state of the switching element.
