The method for closing two-piece tool (1) in an injection molding machine, comprises moving a tool part (2) relative to another tool part (3) over a closing stroke by a closing drive (4). A permissible course with consideration of a tolerance band (TI/TF) is given beyond a given way-mark (s o) for the beginning of the tool protection for a driving force (F) or the power input (I) of the closing drive. The strength of the driving force (F m a x) is limited via a section (delta s 2) of the tool-secured closing stroke. A constant closing speed is given for a part of the closing stroke. The method for closing two-piece tool (1) in an injection molding machine, comprises moving a tool part (2) relative to another tool part (3) over a closing stroke by a closing drive (4). An immediate interruption of the movement of the movable tool part is depressed as soon as the tolerance volume for the function course is left.
