The furniture (1) has an anti-fall barrier (4) with a crosspiece (5) connected to a base (2) by a post (6). The crosspiece authorizes free passage between a lying plane (3) and the environment of the furniture in the lowered position. A barrier configuration unit (12) has a hinge adjustment unit (14) to modify spatial configuration of the hinge with respect to the base.
