The method involves measuring angular speeds of motorized front wheels and follower rear wheels of a motor vehicle. A comparison criterion comparing measured speeds of one front wheel and one rear wheel on a side of the vehicle with measured speeds of another front wheel and another rear wheel on another side of the vehicle is calculated. A comparison criterion comparing measured speeds of the front wheels on a front axle of the vehicle with measured speeds of the rear wheels on a rear axle of the vehicle is calculated. The criteria are analyzed for detecting an inflation state of a tire. An independent claim is also included for a system for detecting an inflation state of a tire of a front or rear wheel of a motor vehicle.
