The method involves measuring background noise in an enclosure (5) at an atmospheric pressure with a volatile organic compound track detector (7). Concentration of volatile organic compound is measured in the enclosure at the atmospheric pressure with the track detector, where the enclosure receives a container (3) defining an internal space in which the volatile organic compound is present. The background noise measurement is compared with the volatile organic compound concentration to detect leakage of the container. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling sealing of a container.
