PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for predicting the storable duration property of an apple fruit by which the determination, whether or not an individual bears or can bear the fruit having the excellent storage duration property is carried out in high accuracy even in a seedling stage. PSOLUTION: The method for predicting the storable duration property of the apple fruit includes examining the number of SSR (simple sequence repeat) constituted of guanine and adenine present in the 5'-flanking region of MdACS3a gene by using a tissue (except the fruit) of the apple, and determining the individual having a genotype in which the number is 15-25, to be the individual bearing the fruit or capable of bearing the fruit having the excellent storage duration property.
