PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal particle production device and a method for producing metal particles having no intrusion of impurities, having no thermal impact upon production, having a uniform structure, and, e.g., capable of securing a sufficient melting time so as to be an intermetallic compound or an alloy with a uniform structure.;SOLUTION: The metal particle production device has a light source arranged at the inside or outside of a sealed vessel, and uses an optical heating-melting-dropping means where an optical heating part performing optical heating so as to concentrate on a metal stock by light from the light source is formed, the metal stock is melted by optical heating, the melted metal is rotationally held by an adjacent melted metal holding part, and the holding of the melted metal is continued till its size reaches the one to be dropped as metal particles by gravity in a non-contact state, and a melted particle-shaped body is formed by the dropped metal particles.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
