PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Chinese character recognition program, a portable terminal, and a Chinese character recognition method which present a pronunciation of a Chinese character contained in image data captured by an imaging device smoothly as needed with simple operations, even if the portable terminal performance is not high.;SOLUTION: The portable terminal 1 includes: an imaging unit 10 to capture image data; a display unit 50; a Chinese character determining unit 20 which determines whether a character contained in the image data is a Chinese character or not, and outputs a portion which may be a Chinese character; a character recognition unit 30 which performs a character recognition process to the image portion output from the Chinese character determining unit 20 and acquires its character code; and a pronunciation acquiring unit 40 which retrieves pronunciation information from a data storage 60 based on the character code output from the character recognition unit 30 and displays it on the display unit 50.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
