A method and a device for performing synchronization by using the device fit for a multi-server environment as a client are provided to guarantee the fast synchronization for large contents, satisfy diverse policy requests of a user, and realize the automatic sync in the multi-server environment. A synchronization policy manager(120) searches a synchronization policy required for synchronizing metadata multimedia contents and metadata of the multimedia contents with the connected client by using a client ID, and stores the searched synchronization policy. A synchronization information collector(150) collects log information for a previous synchronization task of the client and changes after the synchronization task from the task. A synchronization processor(140) performs the synchronization with the client according to the obtained log information. A change log manager(160) stores a task result of the synchronization performed with the client to the log information. An interface(114) transmits the log information to make the task result stored to the log information of the client. A storing part stores the multimedia contents and the metadata of the multimedia contents.
