The device has a light source (10) i.e. LED, for exciting an optochemical sensor element (8) of a measuring cell (7) of a flow sensor (2). An electronic module has an electric connecting line (13) contacting the light source and a photo detector (11). The flow sensor is connectable to a standardized terminal (14) of an arterial catheter (1) via an inlet-side connecting element (3) and to a standardized terminal (15) of an arterial infusion set (16) via an outlet-side connecting element (4).
