PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display is provided to reduce the driving voltage by applying voltages having different polarities and amplitudes to two pixel electrodes.;CONSTITUTION: An insulating film covers on a common signal line. Data bus lines(1,1') are formed on the insulating layer. A pixel electrode is divided into the first pixel electrode(6) and the second pixel electrode(7). Through a thin film transistor connected to the pixel electrode, voltages having different polarities are applied to the first and second pixel electrodes. The in-plane electric field is formed between the first and second pixel electrodes. The liquid crystal having positive permittivity anisotropy or negative permittivity anisotropy which are horizontally and initially arranged is rotated so as to be parallel to a substrate.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
