The arrangement has a direct current chopper for bi-directionally transmits electrical energy between a direct current voltage side (1) and an intermediate circuit (7). An inverter-circuit (8) connects the intermediate circuit with an alternating current voltage side (3). A clocked step-down circuit (6a) is connected to the direct current voltage side and the intermediate circuit at input and output sides, respectively. A step-up converter circuit (6b) is connected to the intermediate circuit and the direct current voltage side at input and output sides, respectively.
