The method involves recording a scene in a stereo-arrangement using an image sensor (20). A pattern with structural elements in the form of gray value pattern or color pattern with defined locally different intensities or colors is projected on an object surface (10), using a projector with a structural panel (90). The pattern is projected with constant spatial resolution in an x-y-plane. Each structural element is selected such that each one of adjacent structural element exhibits different intensity value. An independent claim is also included for a device comprising a sensor arrangement.
