The measuring device (1) has a sample body (2,3). A temperature measuring element is arranged inside the sample body, and another temperature measuring element is arranged at an upper surface of the sample body. The sample body is formed in a spherical manner. The former temperature measuring element is formed and arranged such that it determines the temperature in the center of the sample body. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a measuring system with a retainer; and (2) a measuring method for determining characteristic features of a furnace.
