The method involves supplying gas flow with dust particles to a separator (5) of a plant (1) via return pipes (4). The dust particles are separated from the gas flow by a filter (7) of the separator, where the filter is dedusted by a dedusting unit (8). An entry of an ignition source in the gas flow is determined by monitoring units i.e. infrared sensors (9). The dedusting unit is locked when the entry of the ignition source is detected by the monitoring units, where the dedusting unit and the separator are controlled by a control unit (10).
