The device has water feed lines (6, 7) feeding water to a drinking bowl, where the water feed lines are attached to an outlet (19) of a water-storage tank (11). The water-storage tank includes a fresh water feeder (12) and a junction (23) of intake and ventilation lines (22). Partial lines (24, 25) divert from the intake and ventilation pipes prior to the junction on the water-storage tank. Operable inlet valves (21, 21') are arranged in a water feeding pipe between the outlet of the water-storage tank and intersection of partial lines. An independent claim is also included for a method for frost-free operation of a drinking bowl for watering a livestock.
