The curtain-coating unit comprises a function unit of curtain coating head (6), drip pan (7) and/or an air barrier removal device (8) that present itself directly over the surface of fiber material web (2) to be coated and in running direction of the web seen directly before the curtain to be delivered. The multi-layered curtain (3) reduces the gravity following on the surface of the fiber material web and produces a coating layer. The function units are adapted to the width of the fiber material web. The air barrier removal device with the drip pan forms a functional unit. The curtain-coating unit comprises a function unit of curtain coating head (6), drip pan (7) and/or an air barrier removal device (8) that present itself directly over the surface of fiber material web (2) to be coated and in running direction of the web seen directly before the curtain to be delivered. The multi-layered curtain (3) reduces the gravity following on the surface of the fiber material web and produces a coating layer. The function units are adapted to the width of the fiber material web. The air barrier removal device with the drip pan forms a functional unit, where both elements of the functional units are arranged in running direction of the fiber material web to be coated in such a way that the drip pan and the air barrier removal device are present downstream of the device and a passage is passing between the both elements of the functional units in transverse direction for the curtain falling on the fiber material web. The functional unit is movable relative to the curtain-coating head arranged above the functional unit. The functional unit forms a structural unit. The passage of the functional unit and/or structural unit is 40-80 mm. Each side of the curtain to be delivered is assigned a curtain holder integrated into the functional and/or structural unit, where the curtain holder presents itself on the height of the passage. The curtain holders are movably arranged. The drip pan of the functional- and/or structural unit comprises diagonally passing cutting edge that permeates already or yet falling curtain during starting and stopping the coating process. A second drip pan is integrated into the functional- and/or structural unit, is arranged upstream to the passage and has a diagonally passing cutting edge. The functional and/or structural unit is movable in or against the running direction of the material web in the range of 40-80 mm, where the curtain coating head retains a solid position. The speed of the functional and/or structural unit is 2-4 m/min in its movement. The displacement movements of the functional and/or structural unit are guidable on hydraulic, electric or pneumatic way. The functional and/or structural unit comprises a plane lower side assigned the fiber material web, where the plane lower side is made from a metal and/or wear resistant plastic. The lower side comprises cross-grooves and/or saucer-like dent. The functional and/or structural unit is arranged in the direction of the movement of the fiber material web in an angle of 5-30[deg] and contacts on a position with its lower side of the surface of the fiber material web and deflects to a sum of 2-8 mm.
