The method involves detecting an amount of fuel by a sensor device. A signal about the detection is transmitted to a management system i.e. engine management system, in a motor vehicle, where the management system adapts the engine management to determined fuel characteristics for realizing the increased engine performance and/or reduced fuel requirement. The sensor device is communicated with a chip i.e. radio-frequency identification (RFID) chip, that is arranged at a fuel hose of a dispensing head.
