The method involves measuring an unbalance of a rotor (2) during a rotation of the rotor, and calculating a position at which a balancing weight (1) is to be connected to the rotor. A mass having the balancing weight for balancing the unbalance is calculated, and the balancing weight is separated from a continuous line, where the balancing weight is connected to the rotor by a friction welding. A truncated cone-shaped end (5) of the balancing weight is formed during the separation of the balancing weight from the line, and another balancing weight is attached to the rotor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for balancing a rotating body (2) a rotating body comprising a balancing weight.
