The method involves laying data set for each vehicle. The data set is stored in a central unit of a controller of a model track. The location information of each vehicle is added to each data set assigned to a respective vehicle by which an operator is informed about the current location of the vehicle on the model track. Each player selects a designated vehicle of the model pathway by an operator device connected to the central unit and indicates the current location information of the selected vehicle on a display of the operator device. An independent claim is also included for a digital control device for a model track, e.g. a model railway or a model highway.
