The machine (1) has a pump (3) for supplying hot water supply to a brewing unit (5) for producing coffee beverage. A programming unit continuously activates the pump for producing a portion of an espresso drink. Another programming unit intermittently activates the pump for producing a portion of American coffee (9). Each programming unit has an interface unit (11, 12) for a user for selecting the coffee beverage and the American coffee, respectively. The former programming unit has another interface unit (17) for selecting a value among many lengths of espresso drink. An independent claim is also included for a control method for a coffee machine.
