PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tungstate compound or a molybdate compound exhibiting ultraviolet light-emitting, which has never been hitherto manufactured, by preparing a good quality thin film.;SOLUTION: An ultraviolet light-emitting thin film comprising the tungstate compound and/or the molybdate compound exhibiting ultraviolet light-emitting is characterized by having a structure wherein uniform crystalline nanoparticles having sizes of ≤10 nm are aggregated. A method for manufacturing the ultraviolet light-emitting thin film is characterized by arranging a target comprising the tungstate compound and/or the molybdate compound and a substrate in off-axis arrangement, and then irradiating the target with a laser so as to form a thin film comprising the tungstate compound and/or the molybdate compound on the substrate by laser abrasion.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
