PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color deepening agent improving the density, depth and brightness of the color on the surface of printed paper, a dyed fiber, colored wood, a printed or a colored plastic product and imparting excellent antistatic properties and fretting resistance, to provide a method for deepening the color of the surface of an article using the color deepening agent and to provide the article obtained by treating with the color deepening agent. PSOLUTION: The color deepening agent is composed of a polymer particle-containing aqueous dispersion (A) having 1.50 refractive index and obtained by carrying out radical polymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of a cationic surfactant, an amphoteric surfactant (B), an anionic antistatic agent (C) and a silicone emulsion (D).
