PURPOSE: A method of quantitatively evaluating the initial coagulating layer of a continuous casting slab is provided to minimize analytical error by reducing difference in the non-uniformity of a coagulating layer depending on workers, thereby enabling quantitative and objective determination on slabs.;CONSTITUTION: A method of quantitatively evaluating the initial coagulating layer of a continuous casting slab comprises next steps. Images of a component are taken from the sample of a slab using an image processing device(S1). The borders of an initial coagulating layer are classified from the images(S2~S3). The quantitative index of the initial coagulating layer is calculated by measuring of thickness of each position of the initial coagulating layer through the image processing device. The quantitative index of the initial coagulating layer comprises the average value of the thickness of each position of the initial coagulating layer.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
