Producing a copper- and chromium-containing mixed oxide (I) comprises providing a copper- and chromium-containing wet material into a thin film drier, thermally treating the wet material in a treatment zone of the thin-film drier at 200-700[deg] C (preferably 250-350[deg] C) to form (I), and separating (I) from the thin-film drier. Independent claims are included for: (1) (I) obtained by the above method; and (2) a catalyst comprising (I).
