The display has a lighting unit for illuminating a spatial light modulator (SLM1) and a scattering layer, which is functionally or structurally combined with controllable deflection layers (S1,S2). A scattering cone is deflected in locally variable regions in area of the deflection layers during mutual triggering. The deflection layer is controllable with a control unit for generating the scattering cone. The scattering cone is deflected in horizontal direction. The deflection layers have a controllable liquid crystal material and a prismatic structure.
