PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self discharge defect detection device and a self discharge defect detection method for a secondary battery that can detect self discharge defect without accelerating depletion of the battery in a short time.SOLUTION: In a self discharge defect detection device 10 for a secondary battery 1, charging means 2 charges the secondary battery 1 as a test object, and determination means 5 calculates an input capacity of charged current required to reach charge finish current. The determination means 5 compares the calculated input capacity with a predetermined reference input capacity of a non-defective product to determine self discharge defect of the secondary battery 1.
