The invention provides nucleic acids, and variants and fragments thereof, obtained from strains of Bacillius thuringensis encoding polypeptides which have pesticidal activity against insect pests, including Lepidaptera. Particular embodiments of the invention provide isolated nucleic acids encoding pesticidal proteins, pesticidal compositions, DNA constructs, microorganisms and transformed plants containing an enhancement nucleic acid. These compositions find use of methods for controlling pests, especially plant pests.
