The converter (1) has an analog to digital (A/D) converter (5) for digitizing the measuring signal. A field bus modem is controlled by a microprocessor (4), for making the digitized measurement signal to satisfy the field bus protocol e.g. highway addressable remote transducer (HART) protocol. A master (3) is formed as an evaluation and display unit for the analysis and display of the field bus protocol. A microprocessor is connected to user interface (7), through which the field device (2) is configured.
