PURPOSE: An agent containing escin compounds for preventing plant diseases is provided to selectively inhibit pathogenecity-associated secretion system. CONSTITUTION: An agent for preventing plant diseases contains a compound of chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. The plant diseases are caused by plant-pathogenic gram negative bacteria. The plant diseases include Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines, Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC300, Burkholdera glumae BGR1 and Burkholdera glumae mutant BGS6, Ralstonia solanacearum SL341 and Ralstonia solanacearum SL2029, Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae KX085, or Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. vesicatoria.
