PURPOSE: An epoxy resin is provided to have high flame retardance and moldability, thereby having excellent flame resistance, thereby providing an epoxy resin composition having excellent self-extinguishability, and a cured material thereof.;CONSTITUTION: An epoxy resin is shown in chemical formula 1. A manufacturing method of the epoxy resin comprises: a step of obtaining halohydrin ether by mixing the 4,4"-dihydroxy-5'-phenyl-meta-terphenyl compound in chemical formula 2 and epihalohydrin; a step of conducting a reaction by adding alkali metal hydroxide into the halohydrin ether.
