PURPOSE: A single nanoparticle sensor for detecting heavy metals is provided to economically manufacture a small amount of nanoparticle and to ensure excellent selection and sensitivity. CONSTITUTION: A sensor for detecting heavy metal comprises: a substrate; one or more gold nanoparticle placed on the substrate; and a first self-assembled monolayer attached on the surface of gold particle by thiol group. The gold nanoparticle is stick form or sphere form. The sensor has alkan compound containing a thiol group at one end and silane group(SiH3-) group at the other end. The sensor further comprises a second self-assemble between the substrate and gold nanoparticle. The subject heavy metal to be detected is copper or mercury.
