The method involves three-dimensionally representing the jaw (1) of the patient, and three-dimensionally representing the inferior alveolar nerve in the jaw, and roots of adjacent teeth of the patient. The required bone volume and dimension at the recipient area is determined, and a bone area is selected as a donor area corresponding to the acquired data and dimensions of the recipient area. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a saw guide device with a fixing element for attachment to the jaw; (2) a method for non-invasive measurement of bone volume in the jaw of a patient; and (3) a method for obtaining bone volume from the jaw of a patient.
