The device has a detection unit for detecting approaching rail-mounted vehicles (SF1, SF2), and a flying support system for supporting the detection unit. A positioning system determines position of people by a global positioning system. A double-tracked tunnel section comprises two railroad tracks (GL1, GL2). Work points (AS) are formed in one of the railway tracks and distributed in different sections (ASa-ASe). One of the rail-mounted vehicles is driven on the former railway track along travel direction (FR1). A detection signal is transmitted to a central unit of a warning system. The support system is formed as autonomous flying or remote-controlled flying support system (TR) and a vertical take-off and landing flying apparatus.
