The method involves determining whether a condition exists, in which the danger of the constriction (32) has data relating to the height distance between a wheel axle (5) and a vehicle frame (9). The air is supplied from the compressed air system (28) through the pipeline (27) to the air cushioning bellows, if it is determined that a condition is present, in which the risk of constriction of the air cushioning bellows is prevented. An independent claim is also included for a control system for preventing the constriction of air cushioning bellows for a vehicle.
