The method involves utilizing an electric battery (17) of a motor vehicle e.g. electric motor vehicle, as heat capacity, where thermal energy of the battery is used by a heating system (11) e.g. heat pump, for heating a passenger compartment of the motor vehicle. A thermoelectric device (16) is used with peltier effect to support transfer of thermal energy toward the electric battery. The heat pump is provided with a compressor driven by an electric motor (19). The thermoelectric device includes a thermal pole thermally coupled with a heat exchanger (20) e.g. evaporator. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a data recording medium comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for operating a temperature control system (2) a system for operating the temperature control system.
