The system (1) has a heat conveying system e.g. gravitating heat pipe (2), adapted to transfer calorific energy released by batteries (3) toward an evaporator (5) of a heat pump (6) for controlling temperature of an passenger compartment of an vehicle. The heat pipe is located below the evaporator of the heat pump. A direct cooling system (22) of the batteries is activated under operation at an external threshold temperature, which is higher than zero degrees Celsius and lower than 5 degrees Celsius, where batteries are cooled by the cooling system beyond the temperature. An independent claim is also included for a method for cooling batteries of an electric car or hybrid car.
