A method of stereoscopic image adjustment comprising detecting differences in colour properties between two corresponding images and adjusting the colour properties of the images from at least one of the stereoscopic cameras to reduce the differences in colour properties between images. A histogram representing the distribution of pixel brightness in each of the RGB primary pixel colours may be used to show the colour properties, and a noise combiner and low pass filter may be used. A central overlapping portion of the images with the same scene features may be used. Trials of different adjustment parameters may be used until the difference in colour properties, which may be gamma, knee, white level and/or black level, is less than a threshold amount. Images from one camera may be master images and images from the other may be slave images. The properties of the master images may be set manually by the user and the properties of slave images may be altered to match those of the master images.
