PURPOSE: A Method for recognizing a living body by using pupil boundary information and a device to which the method is applied are provided to quickly obtain living body intrinsic information while giving a weak influence on an environmental image noise.;CONSTITUTION: An image capturing unit(1) obtains an image including a pupil and an iris. An information processing unit(3) extracts a pattern of the pupil from the image to calculate biometric information. A storage unit(2) stores the biometric information. The information processing unit calculates the biometric information from distance values sampled from a boundary of a pupil area.
