FIELD: transport.;SUBSTANCE: method of shunting diesel locomotive operation consists in optimisation of diesel locomotive operation modes by combining power sources. Optimisation of diesel locomotive operation modes is executed by connecting two independent drives to one generator where the first independent drive is connected at low and medium loads and in idle mode. Its shaft is rotating the generator armature. At medium loads the second independent drive is connected, its shaft is rotating the generator frame. At high loads, two independent drives are enabled when the generator armature and its frame are rotated in opposite directions.;EFFECT: optimisation of diesel locomotive operation and lowering fuel consumption.;4 cl, 2 dwg
