The method involves driving a clutch of an inactive sub-transmission toward a closed clutch in a partially opened position. A clutch of an active sub-transmission is driven in a position along a clutch traverse path. Rotational torque transferred from the latter clutch and/or a deviation of the torque from a reference torque is determined depending on the clutch position in which a predetermined reference torque is transferred as the torque by the latter clutch in the position such that cross-talk behavior determining process is continued until no further reference torque is predetermined.
