The method involves recording partial projection images in a preset position of a radiation source (4) i.e. X-ray source, by relative tilting of a radiation beam (12) in a tilting plane and relative displacement of a radiation detector (5) e.g. X-Ray detector, and the radiation source along a direction. The partial projection images are combined to a projection image of an object (10), where the partial projection images are supplementary to a receiving area enlarged with respect to a retainer that uses an entire detection surface (13) of the radiation detector. An independent claim is also included for an imaging device.
