The setting of operating parameters of the hearing aid is carried out as a function of the individual hearing loss of the affected ear at which the hearing aid is adapted, depending on whether the hearing aid is to be used at the left ear or right ear. The left auditory path is more associated with the right hemisphere and the right auditory path is more associated with the left hemisphere. A higher compression ratio is selected for the right hearing aid (R-HG) in comparison to the left hearing aid (L-HG). An independent claim is included for an adjustment apparatus for adjusting operating parameters of hearing aid.
