The rod pantograph positioning apparatus has vehicle motor-driven cable winch (3) that is provided with adjustable force. The cable applies active motive force to the rod (1) of a rod pantograph of the vehicle (7) at the normal position of the rod pantograph. The motor vehicle-mounted controllable rotary actuator (8) is located on the vertical rotation axis (4) of the rod pantograph. An independent claim is included for method for positioning rod pantograph.
