The method involves determining momentary lateral acceleration (ay) of a motor car (S1) based on momentary velocity, by a non-optical sensor system. A momentary track curvature (K) of a curvilinear track portion is determined (S2) by an optical detection system (18) of the motor car. A momentary target curve slant is computed using momentary lateral acceleration. A modified momentary target curve slant is computed by weight of the target curve slant with a velocity-dependant target curve slant weighting factor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for carrying out a target curve slant of a motor car (2) a motor car.
