The method involves transmitting and sending of information from a fuel consumer (9) to a fuel supplier (18) for a specified fuel demand accumulating within a time interval. The fuel consumer is monitored according to the transmitted information. Another information is transmitted from the fuel supplier and delivered to the fuel consumer. An absolute time is determined from the former information, within which no fuel supply is required by the fuel consumer. The fuel supply is controlled according to the absolute time. An independent claim is also included for a control device for controlling the temperature of a fluid medium and the filling level of a storage heatable by the fuel.
