The collecting apparatus has a heat transfer device (30), which is coupled to a heat sink (21) of a cooling circuit (20) of a motor vehicle and is adapted to provide cooling by a joint use of the cooling circuit. A condensation unit (40) is coupled in a flow path of a rising fuel vapor (7), which is coupled with the heat transfer device. A coolable heat exchanger (41) is adapted to absorb the rising fuel vapor through condensation by cooling. A return flow device (60) is adapted to return the captured fuel vapor in liquid form in a fuel tank (5). An independent claim is included for a method for collecting in a rising flow of fuel vapor from a fuel tank of a motor vehicle.
